Vivian Dickey began her broadcasting career with KOTI television in the summer of 1991 as Traffic Director. I quickly learned that Vivian was not ordinary in her ability to learn the job, but extraordinary. While we only worked together for the next three months, I came to know here as a professional who got things done quickly, and with enviable accuracy! Wow, I thought, what a pro!!!
Six years would pass before I would have the opportunity to work with Vivian again at KAGO radio, where she become the Traffic Manager for our operation. Vivian often found herself finished with her work early and needed something to stimulate her mind and occupy her time. She focused on the idea of becoming a “sales assistant” to our team, and brought insight and ideas to the presentation process- a gift and talent that is serving all of us well today.
I have often said that Vivian is half human and half IBM. I have never experienced anyone more focused on her work, and more driven to accomplishment. Vivian cares deeply about the successes of our endeavors, and agonizes over the failures, albeit few in number. She is the consummate teammate. She never complains about her work load, and always takes on more than expected. She offers her personal time and many, many weekends to our cause and is a key ingredient to our reaching goals month in and month out. Nobody could ask for a better business partner.
In closing, I am thrilled that Vivian is getting this recognition in the employee spotlight, and while others on our staff are unaware of this award, I know that they would all feel the same as I do. Congratulations Vivian!!!!
